Considering a boudoir session can often feel nerve-wracking and intimidating. You might be questioning if you can look as good as the women you see on the site? Are you sexy enough? You’re so nervous, can I even do this? The answer is unequivocally, yes you can! Stepping out of your comfort zone to book a boudoir session takes a lot of courage, but this is where the real magic happens!

We’ve put together 12 of the most frequently asked questions and answers to provide some more insight on the experience, image use, our finished products, hair and makeup & more!

1) I’m freaking out! How can I calm my nerves?

The first step is to read through these questions and answers! There’s lots of great information here that we’ve put together specifically for you. All you have to do is believe in yourself, make that step and then we’ll help you take care of the rest. The day of your shoot, from the moment you sit in the chair for hair and makeup, champagne in hand, those feelings of nervousness and anxiety quickly fall away. After hair and makeup has finished making you look your absolute best, the next stage of fun begins; your shoot with Kortney! She’ll give you tons of direction and encouragement and you’ll share lots of laughs! She’ll pose you right down from your fingertips to you toes, and the angle of your nose so you never have to wonder!

2) Is hair and makeup included?

Hair and makeup is included in all of our boudoir shoots! I think it’s really important for you to feel pampered, and having your hair and makeup done is a great way to do that! Our in-house HMUA, Patience, will take care of you! She's been part of the team for quite some time now and not only is her work exceptional, it makes a huge difference in the end result of your images. Even a ’no-makeup’ look is best achieved with a professional! As you send ideas to me, I'm keeping her in the loop. Some opt for a consult where she will discuss the look you’d like to achieve or advise you if you aren’t sure what to ask for. But most, solely trust her expertise.

3) Will you post the images from my session?

We NEVER post images where clients can be identified without our clients’ full written consent. Our greatest priority is ensuring our clients are comfortable knowing how their images could be used. Every client I feature on my blog has given me written permission to post her images. If you aren’t comfortable with any images being shared, that is completely fine, just let me know! We also offer a VIP group as an alternative measure to publicly sharing if you choose. You decide! Many women do decide to share their images as part of their journey in self love and acceptance and also to dispel the myth you have to have a certain body type for boudoir. All bodies are boudoir bodies!

4) What do I wear for my boudoir experience?

Many clients choose to wear lingerie, but you don’t have to wear lingerie specifically. It all depends on your personality! There are so many options beyond standard boudoir lingerie. You might choose to wear your partner’s dress shirt, robe, get draped in a sheet, or nothing at all. It’s entirely up to you. We’ll also help you choose the best outfits during your free lingerie consult prior to your session. With a quick video chat, we’ll determine the right wardrobe for you, with you. It can feel stressful determining what to bring, so let us help you with that! We have a few items such as some shoes and a few robes, jewelry and other accessories. We don’t provide lingerie because bodies come in so many different shapes & sizes and people’s tastes in lingerie vary widely.

5) How many outfits do I bring?

3-5 outfits is standard. I am not too picky about this, as long as we're realistic in the amount of time and understand wardrobe changes can affect the amount of active shoot time. I always say to bring more if you can’t decide and I will help you direct you and narrow down if need be!

6) Where should I buy my outfits?

Once booked, you will receive a Prep Guide that directs you not only on what to wear, but where to buy. It depends on personality and the style of your shoot. Stumped? Just give me a shout. We will also go over ideas at your wardrobe consult. If you are looking for something specific that you can’t find, let me know and I might know just where to get it!

7) Do you retouch my images?

We embrace the beauty of the human form, and therefore, our editing includes light retouching (colour, contrast, exposure). I edit all images for light, exposure and colour balance and to give them my signature. Our general rule is we remove anything on your skin that would be gone in 2 weeks such as blemishes, bruises and scratches. However, we don’t edit out anything permanent such as stretch marks, cellulite or scars without your explicit request because boudoir sessions are about accepting, loving and celebrating who you are and it can be damaging to edit out parts of yourself. If there are parts of your body that you are learning to love but aren’t thrilled about, that is okay! We are skilled in posing and lighting to make you look your absolute best.

8) What type of finished products do you have?

We offer a variety of albums and luxury presentation boxes with prints in them and endless wall art! I absolutely love the feel of picking up a physical print, it’s so surreal to see yourself like that! ”I flip through them regularly, myself, every chance I get. I think I look at them more than he does. It’s a daily reminder that my self-image has completely changed after this experience.” –Justice

9) Do you offer just digital files?

Yes. All of our Print Collections include digital images. These digital images come in a password-protected, secure online gallery, for you to download and share!

10) Do you have payment plans?

We do - both pre and post-session payment plans and you customize the plan! There is a booking retainer to book your shoot, and the balance is due 2 weeks before the session date! Most of our clients take advantage of this option.

11) Where Do the Shoots take place?

Depending on the Collection you choose, usually either my studio in Joplin or a private Victorian Suite in Joplin. All sessions are done by appointment only, I am not able to accommodate walk-ins.

In other cities, I shoot in a luxury hotel suite or other suitable space. Exact location will be confirmed and sent to you prior to your shoot.

12) How do I book my boudoir experience?

Fill out my 'connect', page and I will send you package options and add ons. Once we pick a date I will send you a booking proposal and contract. The contract must be signed and a non-refundable retainer is due to reserve your shoot day/time. The remaining balance is due 1 week before the day of your shoot, and payment can be made with credit card through my online booking system. Payment plans are available if you need a bit of flexibility in order to afford the package you really want to book.
