Senior Portraits checklist

Right now you may be asking yourself, where do I start? That's normal. We will walk you through every step, leaving no stone unturned. Use this checklist as a guideline to help you along the way.

What’s Your Style?

Your senior portrait does more than just capture the memory of your achievements in high school—it also captures your unique sense of style. As you plan your outfits for your session, start by thinking about how you’d describe your style to someone else. Do you like to dress more casually? Or do you like to rock your sports jersey everywhere you go? What about keeping it minimalistic and neutral? Whatever your style is, keep it authentically you!

Pick Your Favorite Trend(s) and Plan for Themed Looks

Take a look at these style trends. We compiled a wide range of looks to hopefully spark some inspiration and find the one that fits your wardrobe the best. Read the description to get ideas of specific pieces to put together your portrait session outfits for sharp, camera-ready looks. Our recommendation is to plan on bringing with you at least three complete outfits, or more, if you like a wider range to choose from to look your best.

casual/ urban

Keep it casual with an outdoor twist. Think flannel shirts, distressed jeans or leggings, combat boots or Chucks with a ball cap or beanie.

Elegant/ classy

Repurpose your favorite outfit from a school dance or formal. Dust it off and dress it up with elegant accessories for a timeless + memorable look.

edgy

Make a statement with your favorite jacket or favorite color anything! Pair it with whatever accessories make you most confident! This is a great time to play dress-up.

organic

Why be anything you're not? Reach for that favorite go-to sweater or outfit that defines your every quirk. This could be anything from girl-next-door to a confident strut.

sporty

Show off your sporting side by wearing your jersey or letter jacket. Bring along a game ball, glove or pompoms to commemorate your experience in high school sports.

BYOP

Bring your own pet! That's right. Our furry friends are the purrrfect addition to any session. Horse, dog, chickens - they're all invited. They are family after all!

cap + gown

Make a statement with your favorite jacket or favorite color anything! Pair it with whatever accessories make you most confident!

artsy

Do you obsess over everything creative? You're not alone. Let's see that side. As a fellow creative, you can bet it's one of my personal favs!

Create at least 3 basic looks.

You know what type of style you’re after. Now it’s time to bring all the elements together.
The more outfits you bring to your photo shoot, the more options and styling flexibility you’ll have within your session. You’ll want a minimum of 3 head-to-toe looks:

1-2 months before your session

We will schedule a consultation to go over the 3 (minimum) looks you've come up with. This also gives us ample time to prepare and purchase anything additional we need to in order to execute your vision.

don't forget the little details

  • Make sure clothes are clean and wrinkle-free. (Drop off items for drycleaning 1-2 weeks ahead of time.)
  • Gather all your shoes, accessories, jewelry, props, styling tools, etc. in one place.
  • Double-check your scheduled session time in your client portal.

Get Your Beauty Sleep

The best way to take great photos is to make sure you’re well rested. Do yourself a favor and get as much sleep as you can the night before your session.

Time to Shine!

Arrive at your session at least 15 minutes early, ready for the spotlight!
